Ongoing Maintenance
If you have static site that never offers new content, visitors may have reason to check it out once or twice, but it's unlikely that they will want to return after that. We strongly recommend that you make the modification and updating of your site a part of your budget from the outset.
Our rates for ongoing maintenance are fairly simple.
If you don't expect to have regular updates each month, you can use our regular service fee schedule which is $30 per hour, or a $10 minimum for any updates, which include posting and validation.
Service Agreements
If you do plan on regular updates, or if you want to make sure that your rate for maintenance is consistent from month to month, we can set up a service agreement. The most obvious advantage of these agreements is that they offer an immediate 1/3 reduction in our rates (averaging $20 per hour rather than $30).
Our current agreements with various clients range in price from $20 to $120 per month, and they are based on anticipated use of our services averaged over a 6 month period. In other words, if you need to have a lot of work done one month and you use 3 hours of our time (usually $90), but then just another 3 hours spread across 5 more months (another $90), your fee would be $20 per month with this type of agreement, resulting in a savings of $60 over our straight hourly rates for the same work. Rates can be increased or decreased bi-annually as your needs dictate, based on our records of the amount of work required to maintain and update your site, averaged over a 6 month period.
Priority of service is another reason why you might want to consider getting a service agreement. We usually get 3 - 12 requests for site work each day. The work for our monthly rate customers in always done first (usually the same day) and the rest is completed within 48 hours.
Updates
We recommend that you update the "look and feel" of your site every 2 - 3 years. This is similar to a "renovation" for your home on the 'Net, and it almost always has the effect of drawing attention, and additional traffic, to your site. Web technology, and the features that we can provide on you site, are constantly evolving. Yes, the site we designed for you in 2001 will still work, but it will not be nearly as impressive as the one we could provide for you with current technology.
Contact us when you feel you are ready to give your home on the 'Net a brand new look.
